Audley Gun Club has been established since 1952 and is one of the oldest gun clubs in the area.
The first minutes was of a meeting held on the 18th December 1952 when John Sant was elected chairman and eight members were present. At the meeting the name was to be Butterton Gun Club and the membership restricted to thirty members. The initial subscription was twenty five shillings and renewal membership to be ten shillings. The shoot was predominantly a Down the Line shoot.
The minutes of the A.G.M. 1st May 1958 shows a new member of Mr D. M. (Blaster) Bates, Elworth Sandbatch who some will remember as an English explosives and demolition expert and raconteur. For those who do not know who this is go to you tube and type in "Blaster Bates"
In 1960 the club started to occasionally shoot at Mr J. R. Adams Shortfields farm in Audley and finally became permanently based there in about 1962.
The minutes of a meeting on the 29th May 1964 states the club name was changed to Audley Gun Club.
On the 17th February 1985 the first shoot took place at Green Acres Farm (current site) courtesy of Mr J Griffiths as Mr J Adams was setting up a pheasant shoot at Shortfields farm.
